NELSON TUCKER
Nelson was born into the art world; both of his parents are professional artists. In middle school he gained attention for his three-dimensional work, winning numerous awards from the local art competitions. In high school, Nelson’s acrylic painting won first prize and Best of Show. In 2013, Nelson submitted & was accepted into the National Scholastics Art and Writing Competition. The Denver Art Museum curators chose Nelson’s work to display in an exclusive show, where Nelson’s pen and ink, “Colorado River Toad” was prominently displayed as the first piece of artwork as you entered the gallery.
Nelson attended Columbus College of Art & Design for two years, studying illustration, & completed the 2017 Illustration Academy, in Kansas City, Missouri; this program is a five-week intensive course, taught by the country’s premier illustrators. Here, Nelson tackled challenging projects & techniques that expanded his skills. With each challenge, his enthusiasm for refining and expanding his own techniques increased exponentially.
Nelson is now studying under the artist, Thomas Blackshear, learning new painting techniques through observation and hands-on while creating a portfolio & fine art pieces, world-renowned
