What is impressionism?

Seriously...what is Impressionism?

Overall, Impressionism is a style of art that seeks to capture the fleeting beauty of the natural world through loose brushwork, vibrant colors, and an emphasis on capturing the mood and atmosphere of a scene. The Good Art Co. has several artists who do impressionism such as Niki Gulley; Nancy Paris Pruden; Rolinda Stotts; Randall Cogburn and Becky Joy.

Impressionism is an art movement that originated in France in the late 19th century. It is characterized by its emphasis on capturing the fleeting effects of light and color on the natural world. Impressionist paintings are often described as having a "fuzzy" or "blurred" appearance, as the artists sought to capture the atmosphere and mood of a scene rather than its precise details.

To achieve this effect, impressionist painters used loose brushstrokes and a bright, vibrant color palette. They often worked outdoors, or en plein air, to capture the changing light and atmosphere of a scene. Impressionist paintings often feature landscapes, seascapes, and everyday scenes of people going about their daily lives.
